AI & Content Policy

We use AI as an editorial tool under supervision. It helps us summarise attributed source reporting, generate metadata and produce illustrative imagery. It does not replace editorial judgement and it is not a source of facts.

Where AI is used

  • Drafting an original paraphrase of an attributed source report
  • Classifying topic, sentiment and editorial risk
  • Producing SEO metadata, alt text and internal-link suggestions
  • Generating clearly illustrative imagery when no usable licensed image exists

What AI is never permitted to do

  • Add facts, figures, statistics or dates that are not in the source
  • Invent quotations, named people, companies or institutions
  • Assert or imply allegations, wrongdoing or legal exposure
  • Copy the source's sentence structure or wording
  • Create an article when no qualifying source material exists

Verification and disclosure

AI-assisted drafts are checked for factual consistency against the source, similarity to the source, duplication against our own archive and defamation risk. Failing drafts are held for human review or rejected. Articles produced with AI assistance say so, and we do not claim they have been independently reported or independently verified when they have not.

Article volume

Our pipeline targets a small number of high-quality stories per run. If only two stories qualify, we publish two. If none qualify, we publish none. We never generate filler to hit a target.
